Haiya Glamys,

So it’s been quite a while that I have posted anything here. For those who follow me on Instagram would definitely know I was away at the Holy land of Saudi Arabai for Umrah with my love-bug- Alhamdullaih!

I am back now and since the month of February has begun so I taught of writing about the month. As soon as the month of January nears to an end and the February month starts most of the people get busy with preparations for celebrating the month of LOVE and some get ready to express their love for their lovers. Everyone is well aware the 2nd month of the calendar is considered to be the month of LOVE, as on the 14th it is the Valentine’s Day.

Valentine Day has its own history; it is also known as the Saint Valentine’s Day and in some European countries celebrated as an annual holiday although it is not a public holiday in any country. In the history it states that several early Christian martyrs were named Valentines and those honoured on 14 February were called Valentines of Rome and Valentines of Terni.  Many martyrs’ stories were associated with various Valentines and connected to 14th February, including a Saint Valentine of Rome who was imprisoned for carrying out weddings for the soldiers who were prohibited to marry. While some stories state that Valentine helped to escape prisoners from the torture of harsh Roman Empire. During his imprisonment, Saint Valentine fell in love with the daughter of his jailer, Asterius, and before his execution, he wrote her a letter signed “Your Valentine” as a farewell.

In 18th-century in England, it grew into an occasion in which lovers expressed their love for each other by presenting flowers, offering confectionery, and sending greeting cards known as “valentines” and how can we forget the stuffed toys. Now the trend has changed to romantic love and 14th February is considered to be the love day and celebrated across the world.

Special arrangements are carried out to celebrate the Love and friendship month in America, Asia, and Europe. Yet in many Muslim countries the celebration is banned but still young generation tend to exchange flowers and chocolates in their college and universities and express their love.

Dubai in no way is away from being part of the celebrations. You experience red roses filled in the flowers shops from the beginning of the month where the prices are hiked on the 14th especially and at times shortage of flowers are faced as well. Though there are many consignments pre-ordered to accommodate the needs of the love birds. Not only this, the restaurants run special offers and valentine packages on the table bookings. Special Room rates are offered by the Hotels with some special additional arrangements.  Perfume shops, confectioneries and malls, everywhere there are offers and special gift packages offered for the celebrations. Not only this special features and articles are published in Newspapers and magazines. Different websites collaborate with various companies and come up with special offers for the love month. Special heart pendants and accessories are customized for the month of February. Many getaway deals are also offered for the couples to enjoy few days in different locations of the world. Every year there are plenty of great ideas to choose from and experience with the loved ones.
